Stihl GS461 Description
A standard cut-off disc tops out around 5 inches. The STIHL GS 461 Rock Boss cuts to 15.7 inches. Rather than spinning an abrasive disc, it runs a GGM ductile iron diamond grinding chain, the same concept as a chainsaw but designed to cut through concrete, reinforced concrete with rebar up to 1/2 inch, cinder blocks, masonry bricks, asphalt, and soft stone. That is three times the depth of a typical 14-inch cut-off saw, and the difference matters for corner cuts, wall breaks, and full-depth structural work no disc saw can reach.
At just 16.6 pounds (without bar and chain), the GS 461 is compact and easy to maneuver in confined spaces. It uses an 18-inch guide bar (16-inch effective cutting length) for maximum reach into corners and along walls. The 5.80 HP STIHL engine drives the diamond chain at cutting speeds that outperform competing wet-cutting systems for the same depth capacity.
The HD2 heavy-duty pleated air filter and foam prefilter are designed for the extreme dust environment of concrete cutting, with extended service intervals for professional daily use. IntelliCarb compensating carburetor maintains engine RPM as the filter loads. A water connection with quick connector enables wet cutting for dust suppression, extending diamond chain life and meeting job site air quality requirements. STIHL ElastoStart and decompression valve simplify starting. A rubber bumper protects the machine housing during cutting operations.
