When you’re working hard around the house and yard, you need the right tool for each job. And when the job involves cleanup—as many do since hard work can be a messy business— the right type of indoor/outdoor vacuum can make all the difference.
Whether you’re cleaning up a construction site, removing debris from a client’s yard, or simply gathering fallen leaves, Richardson Saw and Lawnmower has a vacuum to fit your needs. We carry wet/dry vacuums, handheld leaf shredder/vacs, and a walk-behind leaf and trash vacuum from the trusted brands STIHL, Echo, and Billy Goat.
Wet/Dry Vacuum
STIHL’s wet/dry vacuums are ideal for cleaning up a construction site, shop, or home. Sweep up sawdust, dirt, and spills easily without a filter change between wet and dry work. All the vacuums feature an automated filter cleaning system to make maintenance simple.
Their new SE 33 model is a budget-priced entry-level vacuum with the same motor output and suction power as their other homeowner model, the SE 62. The homeowner models are described as “powerful enough for a construction site,” but they are also compact enough for a home or small workspace. The SE 33 has a 3.2-gallon canister and a 6.6-foot hose. The SE 62 has a 6.6-gallon canister and an 8.2-foot hose, providing greater reach and longer work time before emptying the vacuum.
STIHL’s professional model SE 122 has more suction power than the SE 62, yet runs with less noise. This vacuum features a 7.9-gallon capacity canister and a 9.8-foot hose. It’s powerful and maneuverable enough to handle just about any cleanup task you can come up with. Like the other wet/dry vacs, this vacuum comes with three tool attachments—universal, crevice tool, and adjustable floor tools—that you can conveniently fit in the onboard attachment storage.
Shredder/Vacuum
Some yard clean-up is best done with a shredder/vacuum, especially if you plan to use the leaves and twigs as compost or mulch. Many shredder/vacuums also have the additional option of converting to a blower, so you’ll have two tools in one. Stihl’s SH 56 C-E and SH 86 C-E, for example, both include all the parts needed to convert from a shredder/vacuum to a hand-held blower. In shredding mode, they can reduce the volume of yard waste by a ratio of 14 to 1.
Echo’s ES-250 can also convert to a blower. It is equipped with a 4-blade shredding mechanism designed to reduce the volume of debris by a ratio of 12 to 1. This shredder/vac has a two-bushel bag for collecting the shredded leaves and twigs.
Leaf and Litter Vacuum
For heavy-duty, professional outdoor clean-up tasks, Billy Goat lawn and litter vacuums let you tackle large-scale residential and commercial jobs, from cleaning up city streets and parks to maintaining college campuses.
Billy Goat offers push-type vacuums with powerful engines and wide vacuum mouths. These vacuums are designed for multi-surface use and can move from sidewalk, to lawn, to soil, to pavement with ease. Billy Goat vacs work on mulch, leaves, twigs and small branches, litter, and other debris. The collection bag holds up to 40 gallons (depending on the model) and is easy to empty.
Which One Do You Need?
If you want a powerful vacuum that works much like an indoor vacuum cleaner but can handle work outdoors and in a shop, then you’ll want a wet/dry vacuum.
If you’re cleaning up leaves, weeds, and small twigs, then you’ll want a shredder/vac. These tools collect yard waste and reduce the volume, making it easy to compost, dispose of, or use as mulch.
If you do commercial work on large properties such as college campuses, parks, and office complexes, then the Billy Goat leaf and litter vacuum can be a time-saving addition to your equipment fleet.
