America’s number one selling brand of gasoline-powered handheld outdoor power equipment just got even better. With Stihl’s newest updates and additions to their product line, they’re improving on several professional trimmer and brushcutter models.

Easy Starting Engines
The new Stihl trimmers offer a time-saving three-step start procedure. To start these trimmers, simply purge the primer bulb, set the choke and pull the starter handle. When you engage the throttle, the semi-automatic choke lever moves from choke to the run position
Stopping is just as easy. The one-touch stop system lets you turn off the engine just by pressing a button. This stop switch automatically returns to start position, which saves time and helps prevent flooding the engine. In addition, the new engines are powerful, low-emission, and provide 30 percent longer run times than the previous models.
More New Features
It’s not just the engines and starting system that got an update. These new trimmers are packed with features to make your life easier.
- A vertical pleated paper air filter comes standard on all models. It needs replacement less often than the previous filters and provides better filtration and a longer service life.
- When the filter does start to clog, the IntelliCarb compensating carburetor automatically compensates for reduced air flow to maintain the desired RPM while trimming.
- The rubberized, multi-function control handle keeps all the controls within easy reach.
- Straight, steel drive shaft offers professional-grade durability. It also comes with a limited lifetime warranty
Updated Gear Head And Deflector
For the FS 91, 111, and 131 trimmers, Stihl updated the gear head and deflector to reduce weight on the working end without compromising durability. The new deflector opens up the line of sight for better visibility without compromising deflection capabilities.
These changes also make switching cutting attachments easy. Previously, you had to hold the stop pin in place with the trimmer up-side-down while removing the nut. Now, you can insert the stop pin while you change attachments. This new design also integrates the thrust washer and rider plate into one piece, making it easier to ensure the cutting attachment is correctly mounted.
Simplified Maintenance
Stihl also updated or added several features to simplify maintenance. A new one-screw service cover offers easier access to the spark plug and valve train. These trimmers also feature quicker, easier throttle cable adjustment and three-screw access to the starter assembly. Also, the ignition module now records information about how you use your trimmer. This helps technicians during diagnosis, troubleshooting and when performing routine maintenance.
