SW Belt-Drive Mowers
Scag first introduced their belt-drive walk-behind mowers in 1986. Today, the SW series features a simple design that is reliable and easy to operate. These mowers use twin power belts to maximize drive performance even in weather conditions that aren’t usually great for lawn mowing. Couple that with spring assisted EZ Grip hand controls and Scag’s reliable drive system, with ground speeds from 2 to 6 mph, and you get a mower that delivers trouble-free performance.
The five-speed drive system features 9-spline coupler construction for increased longevity. Scag also designed the extra durable front caster arms to handle rough environments. You also won’t have to deal with the downtime and expense of flat tires. Scag’s heavy-duty, Flat-Free caster wheels come equipped with quick pin removal for easy maintenance and cutting height adjustments.
SW mowers feature fixed cutter decks in 32-inch, 36-inch, 48-inch or 52-inch sizes. The SW 32-inch Belt-Drive Walk-Behind is the smallest of Scag’s commercial mowers and uses a Standard cutter deck. The 36-inch mower is equipped with an Advantage cutter deck. Both the 48-inch and 52-inch models use a Velocity Plus cutter deck (see below for more info on the cutting deck options). In addition, these mowers feature powerful and efficient Kawasaki V-Twin engines.
SWZ Hydro-Drive Mowers
Scag’s SWZ series mowers have a heavy-duty hydraulic drive system. Dual 10cc hydraulic pumps and cast-iron wheel motors allow independent power to each wheel. These reliable Scag commercial walk-behind mowers feature counter-rotation wheel turning to minimize scuffed turf and increase maneuverability in heavily landscaped areas.
With forward ground speeds up to 7.4 mph and wide cutting deck options, you can get the job done quickly using these walk-behind mowers. Pistol grip hand controls with spring assisted EZ-GRIP allow maximum maneuverability and reduce operator fatigue. These mowers include many of the same features as the SW mowers, making them both sturdy and reliable. High-quality bearings, D bearing debris guard on idler pulleys, and tapered lock hubs on hydro pump pulleys help ensure long, reliable mowing performance and ease of service.
Mowers in this series use a fixed cutter deck. The SWZ 36-inch Hydro-Drive Walk-Behind comes with an Advantage cutter deck. The 48-inch, 52-inch and 61-inch sizes feature Velocity Plus decks. Like the SW walk-behinds, these mowers use efficient, reliable Kawasaki V-Twin engines.
More Info on the Cutter Decks
Advantage Cutter Decks are designed for high-velocity discharge and a beautifully manicured cut even at faster speeds. These decks are 5 inches deep with three blades that cut weeds and grass cleanly and quickly. The Tri-Plate design makes these decks very sturdy, and side-wear pads help protect from damage.
The Velocity Plus™ Cutter Decks include the same features as the Advantage deck along with a redesigned cutting chamber and massive discharge opening for the best possible cut no matter the cutting conditions. The Velocity Plus deck is available in 48-inch, 52-inch, and 61-inch widths on Scag walk-behinds.
SWZT Hydro-Drive Mowers
The SWZT series mowers combine a powerful hydraulic drive system with a floating, easy-adjust cutter deck to make the smoothest Scag commercial walk-behind mowers that Scag offers. Combine that with incredibly ergonomic controls designed to reduce fatigue and you have a mower that’s comfortable to use all day long. The forward speed selector lets the operator set the speed using a number system (1 through 7) and mow up to 7 mph.
Much like in the SWZ mowers, the SWZTs allow counter-rotation turning. One wheel moves forward while the other moves backward during a zero-turn, which reduces marks on the lawn and increases maneuverability. Dual hydraulic ZT-2800 transaxles with cooling fans and steel fan covers allow independent, amazingly smooth power to each wheel.
This series offers 36-inch, 48-inch, 52-inch, or 61-inch cutter decks. The tough, floating decks are fully fabricated from commercial-grade steel with reinforcements for added durability. Kawasaki FS series V-twin engines power the SWZT mowers. These are 603cc, air-cooled, vertical shaft, OHV, twin-cylinder engines. The mowers with smaller deck sizes are recoil-start engines and the larger deck sizes have electric start engines.
