Since its founding in 1926, Stihl has earned a reputation as a leader in lawn care equipment. Their first innovative electric chainsaw paved the way for nearly 100 years of high-quality equipment on the cutting edge of technological advancement.
In keeping with that tradition, Stihl is introducing new products in their trimmer, brushcutter, KombiMotor, and edger lines. These Series 4180 products are updates to replace older designs with more efficient and reliable equipment. There are seven updated brushcutters/trimmers, a clearing saw, three edgers, and the three professional KombiMotors models. In addition, there’s also a brand new stand alone bed redefiner.
New Features
The new Series 4180 products all have updated engines. They also feature larger fuel tanks, paper air filters, and a variety of other updates. These include
- New control handles with one touch stop
- New interlocked choke for simplified starting. This choke automatically returns to the run position when you squeeze the throttle trigger
- New gearhead and deflector
- New rider plate, which simplifies mounting metal blades on the new gearhead
- Simplified access for valve adjustment
- Diagnostic port for reading operating data with the MDG 1
- Single point throttle cable adjustment via adjusting screw on throttle trigger
More Details
The technical data for Stihl’s new models is very similar to the previous models. In the new models, all fuel tanks can hold 24 ounces. Most of the previous models could only hold 17.9 ounces. The increased fuel capacity lets you work longer without refueling.
The weight has only changed in a few of the updated models:
- FS 111 RX trimmer is 0.2 pounds heavier than the previous FS 110 RX model
- FS 131 R trimmer, KombiMotor 91 R and KombiMotor 11R are all 0.2 pounds lighter than the previous models
- KombiMotor 131 R is 0.4 pounds lighter than the previous KM130 R
- FC 91 edger is 0.5 pounds lighter than the FC 90
- FC 96 and FC 111 edgers are now 1.7 pounds lighter
