Golf courses require consistent, high-quality care to keep them looking green and groomed. If you’re in charge of maintaining a golf course, you’ll need some high-quality equipment that can cover vast areas of ground quickly, handle challenging terrain on occasion, and consistently deliver great results.
Commercial Mowers
For mowing in tight spaces, we here at Richardson Saw & Lawnmower carry walk-behind mowers from Honda, eXmark and Toro with 21-inch or 30-inch cutting decks. Most models are self-propelled to make cutting easy. If you want a larger deck, but still prefer the control you have when using a walk-behind mower, we carry mid-size models from eXmark, Toro and Scag with deck sizes up to 61-inch.
Stand-on and riding mowers, including zero-turn models, are likely what you’ll use to mow most of the golf course. These are faster and less tiring than walk-behinds, and mowers from Toro, Scag and eXmark offer the best cutting performance available. Many of these commercial models are built with a low center of gravity, which makes them safer to use on the uneven or sloped terrain found in many golf courses.
Hand-Held Equipment
Trimmers and brushcutters are a must-have for clearing vegetation that you can’t reach with a lawn mower. These tools are a safer option than mowing for maintaining steep banks and locations near water. They also work well for trimming near sand, since you don’t want the mower kicking up sand and dust. Richardson Saw offers commercial trimmers from top brands including Stihl, Shindaiwa, and Echo.
To create a clean, professional edge around paved areas of the landscape, edgers are the professional’s weapon of choice. We carry both curved and straight shaft edgers, as well as multi-tools. Stihl and Echo’s multi-tool systems let you use a single powerhead to run multiple pieces of equipment, including trimmers, edgers, and blowers. This makes the tools easier to store and means you’ll be carting fewer pieces of equipment around between jobs.
Maintenance Tools
For a lovely golf lawn, the grass has to stay healthy. This means aerating on time, regular fertilization, weed control and, in some cases, overseeding Bermuda grass lawns in the fall so there will be green grass during the winter.
Richardson Saw carries core aerators from Billy Goat and Toro, including a riding model so you can cover large areas of ground at once. Aeration reduces soil compaction, which gives the grass room to grow new roots and makes it easier to water and nutrients to soak down into the soil. We also stock spreaders and sprayers with professional quality performance and commercial-size hoppers and tanks so you can cover more ground without refilling.
