Sprayers designed for yard care are an essential tool for certain tasks in the garden, lawn, and other outdoor areas. If you need to apply liquid products including fertilizer, insecticides, and herbicides to plants, then you’re going to need a sprayer. For small-scale jobs, a hand-held spray bottle or an attachment for the end of your garden hose might work. For bigger jobs, though, you’ll want a bigger sprayer.
Backpack sprayers often have a larger capacity than hand-held sprayers. They’re also easier to use than the larger hand-carried sprayers since you can carry the weight on your back and it leaves you with a free hand. They are a good choice when you need to kill large areas overgrown with weeds, treat a large property, use pesticides on your home farm, or treat an orchard.
Whatever your reason for needing a backpack sprayer, STIHL has one that’s designed to fit the task. Their manual backpack sprayer allows for the precision application of liquid products and has a large capacity tank for longer use without refilling. When you need additional reach and power, the gasoline-powered sprayers are designed for agricultural and orchard use. For a more environmentally friendly solution, STIHL also offers a battery-powered backpack blower.
SG Manual Backpack Sprayer
Want the convenience of a backpack sprayer but don’t need the extra weight of an engine? STIHL’s SG 20 backpack sprayer might be just what you’re looking for. It’s a good choice if you maintain larger properties, but don’t need or want to spend the extra money on a commercial, gasoline-powered sprayer.
This sprayer has a pressurized fluid reservoir that is separate from the 4.75-gallon (18-liter) tank. This reservoir lets you maintain a constant pressure of 40 psi (plus or minus 10%) even after refills. The sprayer weighs 11.5 pounds when empty, and the backpack design distributes this weight evenly over your shoulders so you can use the sprayer with less fatigue.
SR Gasoline Powered Series
If you’re maintaining large properties, plan on using the blower commercially, or spray for agricultural purposes, STIHL’s SR series gasoline-powered blowers give you the power and portability you need. They’re our most popular sprayers.
The value-priced SR 200 is designed for small tree farms and vineyards. This blower is packed full of convenient features, including an anti-vibration system, V-shaped fuel tank, comfort padding for your back, and convenient controls. It holds 2.1 gallons (10 liters) of spray and offers a maximum spray range of 18 feet vertically and nearly 30 feet horizontally.
The more powerful SR 450 comes with all the comfort and convenience features of the SR 200 while increasing the range and versatility. It is a combination sprayer/duster that you can also use as a leaf blower. This sprayer/blower has a container capacity of 3.7 gallons (14 liters) and a maximum spray range of 43 feet vertically and 48 feet horizontally.
SGA Battery Powered Sprayer
With more and more locations banning or restricting gasoline-equipment use, battery-powered options are becoming a necessity for many professional equipment fleets. Even in areas where gasoline equipment isn’t restricted, battery-powered equipment is a no-emission and low-maintenance option preferred by many users.
STIHL’s first battery-powered sprayer, the SGA backpack sprayer, is designed with the durability and reliability demanded for professional use. It features a leak-resistant design with a 4.5-gallon tank. The sprayer delivers a high working pressure ranging from 14.5 to 87 psi, which you control with an easy-to-use working pressure trigger. With an AP 100 battery, you can count on 8.5 hours of runtime from a single charge.
Sprayer Accessories
If you’re a professional working on multiple properties, a TrimmerTrap sprayer rack makes transporting your sprayer between jobs easy and convenient. These multi-purpose racks hold backpack blowers for secure, upright transportation so you don’t have to worry about them being damaged or spilled in transport. The GP-1 rack is designed for open trailers and the GP-1/EP-1 works with closed trailers.
For certain sprayer models, STIHL offers additional accessories. For example, optional chest and hip belt accessories are available for the SR 430 to help distribute the sprayer’s weight evenly. With the SGA battery-powered sprayer, you can get a variety of nozzle accessories. They’re available as spare parts, so ask us here at Richardson Saw—your authorized STIHL dealer—to order them for you.
Depending on what you put in your sprayer, you’ll want eye protection, gloves, and other safety accessories to keep chemicals off your skin and out of your eyes and mouth. Richardson Saw carries a variety of safety equipment, and we can help you select the best style for your job.
