Do you need to pump water through an irrigation system? Empty a swimming pool quickly? Keep groundwater from filling in a construction site?
For all those applications—and many more—you need a reliable, powerful pump that can move water without fail. In some situations, you’ll just need to pump clean water. For others, you’ll need a pump capable of moving mud, sludge, and solid waste in the water as well. Honda pumps can do all this.
Not Just for Clean Water
Honda designed their pumps to move a variety of liquids. They’ll work with plain water of course, but slimy sludge, murky water, and certain types of chemicals are also something you can move if you have the right Honda pump.
Even a lightweight de-watering pump can handle slime, muck, and silt-filled water. You can use general-purpose, high-pressure, and multi-purpose pumps in manholes or coffer dams. High-pressure and multi-purpose pumps will also work for use in quarries. Construction pumps can handle all those jobs, as well as pump liquids with high solid content.
De-Watering Pumps
Honda divides their pumps into a few different categories. There are three series of pumps in the de-watering group.
Lightweight Pumps
Lightweight pumps like the Honda WX10 and WX15 are great for home and recreational use, including around the garden and on boats. Aluminum bodies and carrying handles make the pumps easy to move around.
You can use WC series pumps to move clear, slimy, or muck water. They’re powerful enough to use for pumping over long distances, emptying pools, and powering irrigation systems. Each of these pumps runs off an easy-starting commercial-grade engine.
General-Purpose Pumps
The general-purpose pumps are the ones Honda recommends for heavier-duty tasks. Pumps in the WB series have the protection of a full, heavy-duty frame and include a strainer. WB pumps use full-size GX engines for even more pumping power than the WX series.
These pumps are appropriate for use in clear, slimy, muck, and silt water. They can be used in manholes, cofferdams, and quarries. Just don’t use them for moving water with high solid content.
High-Pressure Pumps
WH series de-watering pumps are ideal for situations where you need high water pressure. Honda recommends these for use with sprinklers and nozzles. They can also be used for fire suppression. Though powerful, these pumps are compact and lightweight, making them very portable.
Multi-Purpose Chemical Pumps
Honda offers one pump that they designed for industrial and agricultural chemicals. You can also use it for water pumping. It features a powerful, durable, and easy-to-start GX series commercial-grade engine. EPDM seals and thermoplastic components give this pump improved chemical resistance. However, this pump is not suitable for all chemical uses; click here to see a list of approved chemicals.
Construction and Industrial Pumps
Honda categorizes two of their pump series as construction and industrial pumps.
Trash Pumps
WT series pumps are heavy-duty, powerful pieces of equipment for professional use. They have all the features of the general-purpose de-watering pumps but with more powerful engines and a wider range of applications. These pumps can handle water with high solid content and pump up to 433 gallons per hour. You can even use them in septic tanks. They all feature quick-clean ports for easy maintenance.
Diaphragm Pump
Honda offers one pump model for use in slow seepage situations. It can pump mud, trash, and solids up to 2.4 inches in diameter. The diaphragm pump can run dry as well as wet, making it useful for construction, industrial, and agricultural applications where you need to keep a location dry.
Submersible Pumps
Honda also offers the WSP series of submersible pumps. You can use these pumps for garden fountains, basement drainage, fast removal of wastewater, emptying pools and stock tanks, and much more. All these pumps are rated for continuous use, and they are fully automated with a free-floating start switch. Depending on the model, you can get top or side discharge pumps.
Conclusion
Honda pumps feature quality construction backed up by a 3-year warranty on most models. These pumps are designed to ensure reliable performance for many years, and even the smallest recreational-use models feature commercial-grade engines.
