General Information

RICHARDSON SAW AND LAWNMOWER currently has over 20 employees.  Five of our employees are our outdoor power equipment technicians.  Each technician has the training to demonstrate both the knowledge and the skills to handle challenging service situations including but not limited to carburetor operation and service, failure analysis, and maintenance and service.  75% of the current employees have been employed with RICHARDSON SAW AND LAWNMOWER for over twelve years.  One of our certified technicians is classified Stihl Platinum which is currently the highest level of certification Stihl offers.  We also have Stihl Gold classified technicians.  They are all factory-trained in the diagnosis of failure analysis of two-cycle equipment.  We are designated a Master Service Dealer for Stihl, Honda Premier Service Center, Toro Master Service Dealer, Scag Pro Gold Dealer, along with many other distinctions.  We carry a full line of lawnmowers, generators, tillers, chainsaws, trimmers, and edgers.

Along with premium lawn care equipment, we also carry a complete line of equipment specifically geared toward the arborist.  With several styles of powered pole saws, manual pole saws, hand trimming tools, various loppers, cutters and trimmers – as well as climbing gear like rope, saddles/harnesses, carabineers and pole climbing gear – we can accommodate the professional and homeowner alike to supply the right tools to take care of your tree-trimming tasks.

Description

RICHARDSON SAW AND LAWNMOWER has served the DFW area for over 50 years.  The company began business operations in the mid-1960s, a spinoff of the parent store located in Garland.  Ron Poen began as manager in 1976, then in 1980 became the managing partner for both stores.  In 1990, the Garland location was sold and Ron purchased the remaining stock in RICHARDSON SAW AND LAWNMOWER, becoming the sole owner.  James Poen, the current owner of RICHARDSON SAW AND LAWNMOWER started working at the store with his father at an early age. 

James would follow his father around the store while learning the trade.  During summer breaks from elementary, high school, and college, James worked in the sales, parts and make-ready departments gathering more knowledge and experience.  In 1998, James took an outside sales job in Tampa, Florida, and was employed by Florida Outdoor Equipment.  It was there that he gained valuable experience about the business by selling Echo, Scag, and Great Dane products along with other supplies in the outdoor equipment retail business.  James was awarded Salesman of the Year by the Retail Dealer’s Association in 1999.  In February 2000, James and his wife, Brenda moved back to Dallas to buy RICHARDSON SAW AND LAWNMOWER from his parents who decided they wanted to retire.

Over the last 50 years, RICHARDSON SAW AND LAWNMOWER has grown from a specialty shop to one of the largest multi-line dealers in the area.  One of the goals at RICHARDSON SAW AND LAWNMOWER is to continue to service our customers with the best power equipment available and provide the best customer service possible.  The experienced service technicians pride themselves on quick, accurate repairs.  The store stocks one of the largest parts inventories in the DFW area to ensure reduced service department downtime, prompt parts counter-order fulfillment, and warranty all the products sold.
