VSG 12619 Description
The Climbing Technology Rescue 8 is a figure-8 descender engineered with a specific safety feature that separates it from standard figure-8 devices: the ears on the device prevent the rope from slipping up to the top and forming a girth hitch, a failure mode on ear-less figure-8s that can trap a rappeller on the device until they can get weight off the system. This design makes the Rescue 8 safer and more predictable during rappelling operations in arborist and rescue contexts.
Constructed from hot forged aluminum alloy, the device has a 40kN minimum breaking strength, substantially higher than the forces generated in typical rappelling and belay scenarios. Compatible with ropes from 10mm to 13mm, covering the standard range used in arborist and industrial rope access applications. The forged construction provides consistent geometry and strength compared to cast alternatives.
